Landfair Originals are one-of-a-kind handmade socks knit by Darla Landfair, fiber artist, yarn spinner, glass bead maker, scientist, singer and Kung Fu fighter extraordinaire. Darla brings her unique training and background to each pair of socks she makes, giving each its own special flavor. From the beaded details at the cuffs to the color combinations and stripes, no two of these handmade socks are alike.
About the designer:
Wife and mother of two, Darla Landfair has been spinning and knitting with fibers and yarns for over 30 years, working with stained glass and glass beads for over 25 years, and has been in scientific research for over 23 years. As a fiber artist, she has experience not only in knitting and spinning, but also in crocheting, weaving, lace making, costuming, quilting and tatting. She also serves on the Board of Directors for three organizations, trains in martial arts at the Academy of Kung Fu, and sings in the Messiah Chorale every Christmas.
From the designer:
I have 6 spinning wheels (3 antiques), 5 sewing machines, and 3 looms. My husband and I belong to a living history group, so we travel to Scottish festivals in Colorado and Wyoming during the summer to put on demonstrations, where you will usually find me at my spinning wheel, but I may take a break to knit, tat or weave.
